Our history

Fábrica de Envases S.A. Fadesa has been
in the Ecuadorian market for more than 65 years.

  • 1956

    Fadesa was founded by Juan José Vilaseca and started its operations as IMSA.

  • 1964

    We began the production for sanitary fishing containers. The first container to be produced was the oval stuffed container and then the half-pound tuna container.

  • 1968

    The company enters the aluminium tube segment.

  • 1975

    We entered the crown caps segment with the acquisition of 2 production lines through the company Tacoensa.

  • 1976

    Fadesa plant suffered a fire due to a Shell gas tank explosion. It took us 6-9 months to restart our production operations.

     

  • 1978

    We entered the vegetable segment with 3-piece welded packages.

  • 1988

    We entered the food and pharmaceutical segments through the commercialization of polyethylene and polypropylene caps, and blown bottles for the lubricant segment.

  • 1995

    We started operations in Peru through the ENORSA plant in Trujillo with the manufacture of 2-piece containers for the fishing and agro-industry segment; and crown caps for the beverage segment.

  • 2002

    We entered into the heavy injection blow molding segment, through the commercialization of buckets and containers for the pharmaceutical segment.

  • 2003

    We started our operations in Colombia as a manufacturer of fishing containers in the city of Cartagena.

  • 2004

    Pioneers in implementing UV printing technology for metal packaging in Ecuador.

  • 2006

    We ventured into the carbonated beverage segment through the commercialization of plastic caps.

  • 2017

    We expanded our metal packaging printing capacity through the acquisition of the first 6-color printing line in Latin America.

  • 2021

    We incorporate In Mould Labeling (IML) printing technology for plastic packaging.

  • 2021

    Opening of the metal packaging production plant in the city of Manta-Ecuador.
